Д-р Мариела Гемишева е български моден дизайнер и артист в областта на пърформанса. През 1992 година завършва магистратура по дизайн в Академията за архитектура, дизайн и изкуства, Прага. Специализира интериорен дизайн (1990) в студиото на архитект Борек Шипек в Амстердам. През 2007 г. получава докторска степен в дисциплината "Визуални изкуства" от НХА, София. Дисертацията й е на тема „Иновативни форми на пърформанса в модния дизайн през 90-те години на ХХ век в Западна Европа“ (научен ръководител проф. д-р Любомир Стойков), за която й е присъдена научната степен доктор по изкуствознание и изобразителни изкуства.
Мариела Гемишева е известна с нестандартните си експериментални решения в областта на модата и атрактивните си пърформанси. Влиза и в ролята на модел пред обектива на Александър Нишков – Автопортрет (2008 г.). За Мариела Гемишева изкуството е: „практика, комуникация, процес, неспокойствие – динамика, в която измерваш ежедневния си ритъм”. Провокацията е съществен елемент в нейните работи – според американския куратор Роджър Коновър тя е „неподражаема в превръщането на ограниченията в предимства” .
Мариела Гемишева е няколкократен носител на наградата „Златна игла” (1996, 1998,)на Академия за българска мода, удостоена с приз за дизайнер на годината (2006). Номинирана е за „Жена на годината” (2008 г.) от списание „Грация”. Номинирана е и за наградата за съвременно изкуство „Shortlist 2008” (GAUDENZ RUF AWARD).
Мариела Гемишева е член на Сьюз на бьлгарските худозници от 1995 на Института за съвременно изкуство – София от 2000 г. От 2003 година e преподавател в дисциплина моден проект в специалност МОДА в Национална Художествена Академия, София. Автор на ефектните костюми за операта Саломе по Рихард Щраус, които създава като модна колекция за постановката на Софийската опера и балет, сезон 2009-2010.
